Vince Carter won’t be used as trade bait when the draft takes place on Thursday night, according to Suns beat writer Paul Coro over at the Arizona Republic. Coro said that Phoenix would instead buy out the shooting guard for $4 million within the next couple of days.

Coro’s announcement of this decision will come as no surprise to any Suns fan. It has been a slam dunk since the season ended that Carter won’t be back in a Suns uniform for the 2010/2011 season because of his age and how much Phoenix is saving by not bring him back. Not bringing back Carter would save the Suns $14 million next season. (more…)

To surprise of no one within the Suns organization, forward Mickael Pietrus picked up his $5.3 million player option to return next season. Pietrus was of the deal with that Magic that brought Marcin Gortat and Vince Carter over to Phoenix.

In 38 games in Phoenix, Pietrus had a difficult time in a Suns uniform adjusting to a new head coach and a new system. His point and rebounding totals were some of the lowest of his entire eight-year NBA career. Things only got worse for Pietrus when he missed the final 12 games of the regular season due a quadriceps injury. (more…)

One of major reasons why the Suns shocked the entire league last season by getting to the Western Conference Finals against the Lakers was the strength of their bench. Phoenix’s second unit played well for the most part last season, but looking to improving will be a must for the organization this summer.

With Vince Carter not coming back, that more than likely means that Jared Dudley will stay in the starting rotation, unless Robert Sarver goes out and spends money on a starting two guard. With Sarver’s history and the lack of quality talent on the free agent market this summer, that seems very unlikely. (more…)

Now that the season is over we come upon another season of tumult. The burning question is do we reload or rebuild. There is a core that can be built around but before construction, there must first be deconstruction.

Last season the question was keep Amar’e Stoudemire or let him walk. This season the same question lingers over Steve Nash. What should the Suns do this offseason? Here is a player-by-player breakdown of The Greg One’s plan for Suns improvement, starting at the top. (more…)

Jared Dudley Reaches Dunk Goal, What’s Next?

April 9, 2011

He will never be mistaken for Air Jordan, but with only three games left in the season, Jared Dudley has finally reached his goal of 10 dunks that he set way back in the beginning of training camp.

Tracking JD’s dunk totals has become a favorite thing amongst Suns fans. Throughout the season during every home game, there has been a Dudley dunk tracker on the scoreboard so the fans could make sure they knew where Dudley stood. Now that he has reached his goal, will the tracker be shown on the scoreboard in the final two home games? It will be interesting to see. (more…)
