All Quiet on the Phoenix Suns Front
In a normal NBA offseason, we would be discussing free agency and possible trades that the Suns could make to improve their roster at the moment. Unfortunately for basketball fans, this is no ordinary summer with the lockout putting all usual league business on the back burner.
On the Suns front, things are about as dead as you can get as far as news goes and expect that to continue over the coming weeks and months ahead unless there is significant progress made between the owners and players. Sadly, there is a better chance of snow in Phoenix during the summer months than the two sides coming to an agreement any time soon. (more…)
Marcin Gortat Agrees to Deal with Russian Team
Suns center Marcin Gortat has signed a deal with the Russian team Spartak Saint Petersburg, according to EuroBasket.com. Details of the deal have yet to come out, but it is expected to be only for one year that includes a clause that would enable him to return to Phoenix once the lockout ends.
Gortat has become the third NBA player in just the last week who has signed a deal with a European team. Deron Williams signed a one-year deal with the Besiktas of the Turkish Basketball League. Former Laker Sasha Vujacic did the same with a different Turkish team as well. (more…)
Marcin Gortat to Show Off New Found Skills for Home Country This Summer
Suns center Marcin Gortat will be playing for his native land of Poland at this summer’s EuroBasket tournament in Lithuania, according to Rotoworld. Gortat is very familiar with european basketball having started his career for a club team in Poland before spending three seasons with a club team in Germany.
Gortat, who put up career bests in his first season in Phoenix, will be able to show off his new skills during the tournament after spending time this offseason working on his game with Rockets former great Hakeem Olajuwon along with his teammate Garrett Siler. (more…)
Markieff Morris A Perfect fit for the Phoenix Suns
The SunsĀ accomplished their main goal of this offseason by grabbing a power forward with the 13th overall pick in last night’s draft. That man’s name? Markieff Morris.
Many so called draft experts called Markieff the lesser player compared to his brother Marcus, who was born seven minutes after Markieff and drafted about the same time frame after his brother. Marcus put up much better numbers while at Kansas compared to Markieff, but the elder brother is a better fit for Phoenix.
Markieff is suited for the four spot where as his brother is a tweener between the two forward positions. Phoenix certainly didn’t need another possible small forward with the logjam that they already have at the position on the current roster.

It’s the eve of the draft and the Phoenix Suns will be on the clock with the 13th pick if they do not find a way to move up. The Greg One has already gone on record as a member of the Jimmer Fredette fan club. However, with Utah one pick ahead of the Suns and the growing interest Fredette is getting from teams in the top ten, it looks like there is no way he will make it to the Valley if the Suns don’t move up.
So once and for all, after watching the draft boards, the televised coverage, the rumor mill and listening to Suns brass on the local airwaves, here is my prediction for the thirteenth pick. Drumroll please. (more…)
