Suns bolster offense with Hedo Turkoglu

The Phoenix Suns continued to try to fill the void left by the departure of Amare Stoudemire this week, completing a trade for Toronto Raptors forward Hedo Turkoglu. Turkoglu is the Suns biggest splash in the free agent pool this offseason and definitely the most questionable. The deal was complete late in the week as the Suns sent bench standout Leandro Barbosa and 2010 second round pick Dwayne Jones to the Toronto Raptors. (more…)
Suns sign Josh Childress
You mess with the fro, you got to go! Eddie Griffin ‘Undercover Brother’
On Wednesday, July 14 the Phoenix Suns acquired former Atlanta Hawk Josh Childress in a sign-and-trade deal. Childress is 6’8, 210 and has spent the last two seasons playing in Greece after coming to a stalemate with the Hawks over a new contract. Childress played for Olympiakos and led the team in scoring at over 15 points per game last season. As compensation, the Hawks will get the Suns 2012 second round draft pick. As day two of free agency came and went, the aftershocks of the Stoudemire contract talks resulted in mixed emotions. Some were happy to have the girted but sometimes jaded power forward out of the valley. Others thought all should have been done to keep him in a Suns uniform, specifically give him a max contract. Both sides took their lumps from the local media and fans. The beef with Stoudemire and Suns management had been airing out in the court of public opinion for the last three seasons. Both sides could have handled themselves better.
At the end of the day one transaction crossed the wire that took the eye off the now deflated ball that was Amare Watch 2010. The Suns signed Hakim Warrick. In the days that followed a single question floated throughout the valley. Who is Hakim Warrick?
